For those who don’t usually work in this space, there is a global force that has been rapidly growing. It’s completely brilliant and taking the world by storm.
It’s called the ‘Digital Nomad’ and it’s come from courageous creative travellers on the back end of Covid-19.
This has been a timely reminder that sometimes you need to have something taken away from you before you realise how important it was to you. We could start with freedom, lifestyle, and personal satisfaction and growth, and then explore further.
Post-COVID-19, most of us likely felt the adverse effects of control by others and needed to push back. So the popularity of combining work/lifestyle and travel all in one has exploded. I, for one, hope and pray that this continues to grow as it has, and it’s here to stay.
So, what does it mean to be a digital nomad? Being location independent must be a top priority when considering this. As long as the digital nomad understands there is a ‘framework’ to follow, albeit a nicely loose one, it is there. This is it – balancing work and play simultaneously while maintaining deliverables at an acceptable standard. Therefore, I can continue to get paid and fund my lifestyle choice. And the key point here is – ‘my lifestyle choice’.
How should I do this?
There are some excellent platforms and communities out there that believe strongly in this lifestyle choice. You can easily tap into what they offer. You would be wise to benefit from what these groups have laid down for you, as they live this lifestyle too! Not only do they live it, but they breathe it and stand by it. You can too.
For a starter, there is, in our view, the leading digital platform that covers this lifestyle perfectly, and this is Nomad Magazine. As its name suggests, it’s about things you would consider essential for becoming and living as a Digital Nomad. It doesn’t start and stop there. The founder is a digital nomad herself. Lera herself founded this remarkably profound platform as she forged her way out there, living her dream. So it was born from living her dream and following her heart with courage. If you have the time and some interest in exploring this community a little, and you won’t regret the 10 minutes, you should look through their magnificent digital magazine here at Nomad Magazine – The First Global Digital Nomad Magazine
